CarpCare WormControl – Treatment for skin and gill flukes in koi
CarpCare WormControl is a veterinary medicinal product for koi used as an aid in the control of skin flukes (Gyrodactylus) and gill flukes (Dactylogyrus).
The combination of the active ingredients – Closantel (25 mg/g) and Mebendazole (37 mg/g) – supports targeted treatment of these common parasites.
Using WormControl
The product is administered through the pond water at a temperature between 12°C and 27°C. The dosage should be dissolved and distributed evenly according to the instructions in the package leaflet. Please note the dosage: 3 g per 1,000 litres of water on days 1, 5 & 10. During treatment it is recommended to switch off UV-C and ozone equipment, provide adequate aeration and remove activated carbon, zeolite and other absorbent filter materials from the filter before treatment.
After treatment, it is recommended to circulate the pond water through a filter containing activated carbon for at least 24 hours to remove medicine residues. Afterwards, remove the activated carbon and add beneficial pond bacteria to help stabilise ammonia and nitrite levels. Feeding a vitamin-rich diet may help support the recovery of the fish after treatment.
