Our new Carp Care pond bacteria
Carp Care Gel Bacteria consists of a gel with live bacteria, which have been specially cultivated to start up the biological filter and to maintain optimal functioning. The biological filter breaks down proteins from the pond water into ammonia and nitrite, which are already toxic to the fish in lower concentrations. Nitrifying bacteria in the biological filter convert ammonia and nitrite into the less harmful nitrate. Nitrate is acceptable to the fish in higher concentrations and its concentration decreases when absorbed by pond plants or water changes.
Under normal circumstances, it takes 6 to 8 weeks to start up a biological filter after winter, after cleaning or replacement, for safe concentrations of ammonia and nitrite. Carp Care Gel Bacteria boosts the functioning of the nitrifying bacteria in the biological filter, so that the breakdown of toxic waste takes place more quickly. The gel has a special formula to attach the nitrifying bacteria to the filter elements. With the use of Carp Care Gel Bacteria, the start-up time of the filter can be shortened to 2 to 4 weeks. Carp Care Gel Bacteria are 100% natural and contain no chemicals or pathogens.
Dosage
After the winter period, the nitrifying effect of the biological filter and the pond bottom must be restarted. The bacterial culture must also be started after cleaning, replacing or installing a new biological filter. Before starting up, the content of one bottle of Carp Care Gel Bacteria is sufficient for a pond with a volume of 20,000 litres. For other pond volumes, a proportional amount should be dosed: 50 mL Gel Bacteria per 1000 liters of pond water. To maintain optimal functioning of your biological filter, it is sufficient to add 10 ml Gel Bacteria per 1000 liters of pond water every week.
